Harvest Hope Food Bank
Harvest Hope Food Bank was founded in 1981 by a group of concerned citizens who realized that food insecurity was a serious issue in the Midlands of South Carolina. Now in its 37th year of operations, Harvest Hope has grown to be a major food distribution hub through direct services like Mobile and Emergency Food Pantries, Child, Senior, Military and Law Enforcement Programs, but also supports over 500 non-profit partner agencies in the 20 South Carolina counties served by Harvest Hope. Harvest Hope is grateful for its ongoing partnership with Richland County, serving those most in need with food, dignity, and understanding.
In 2017, Harvest Hope served 304,483 individuals in Richland County (duplicate count), providing them with 5,355,879 meals of healthy, nutritious foods. Services provided by Harvest Hope in Richland County last year helped reduce overall food insecurity in the county by 3,120 individuals (4.43%), and child food insecurity by 880 children (5.61%) last year.
