What: A virtual public hearing allowing residents to give input on how Richland County uses federal funding to aid low-to-moderate-income residents. The meeting will cover a substantial amendment to the County’s Annual Action Plan for the 2020-21.
When: 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10
Where: Zoom (Email scheirer.sara@richlandcountysc.gov for the Zoom meeting link and a copy of the Annual Action Plan).
The amendment involves the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s allocation of Community Development Block Grant CARES Act (CDBG-CV1 and CDBG-CV3) funding to Richland County. CARES Act funding is restricted to activities eligible under the CDBG program that “prevent, prepare for, and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.” Outlined projects and activities aim to address the needs of low-to-moderate-income people and communities in Richland County.
The amendment is to allow the use of the CARES Act allocations for CDBG-CV1 ($957,993) and CDBG-CV3 ($1,239,915), for a total of $2,197,908 awarded to the County from Housing and Urban Development.
Residents, nonprofits and other community partners and stakeholders are invited to attend the virtual hearing to comment on the use of this federal funding. Public comments will also be taken from Tuesday, Aug. 3 through Aug. 10. Comments can be sent by:
