Search for an existing Estate
Estate Packet If the Decedent owned real property and/or the total value of probate assets are over $25,000.00 - Open a Full Estate.
Small Estate Packet If the Decedent did not own real property and the probate assets total under $25,000.00 - Open a Small Estate.
Admit a Will to Probate no probate assets If the Decedent left a Last Will and Testament but there are no probate assets to transfer - Probate the Will Only.
How to File a Formal Action - If the Will is not the original or the interested parties are not in agreement about who should serve as Personal Representative - You must File a Formal Proceeding.
The Richland County Probate Court:
- administers estates of decedents,
- issues marriage licenses,
- appoints guardians and conservators for minors and incapacitated persons,
- orders involuntary commitments of mentally ill or chemically dependent persons, and
- hears and decides trust and estate litigation.
