Trees are essential for the survival of humans and other organisms. Richland County K-12 students are invited to learn more about trees and the many ways they support life, then share their knowledge with the world in the form of a poster. Cash prizes will be awarded for winning entries. The entry deadline is April 8, 2016.
Two Richland County students have been awarded state recognitions in the “Local Heroes: Your Hardworking Pollinators” conservation poster contest, sponsored by the South Carolina Association of Conservation Districts.

The Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) has selected twenty-eight winning entries from Richland County K-12 Students in the 2015 Arbor Day Youth Contests.
Conservation projects at five local schools will receive funding through the Conservation Education Mini-Grant and Clean Stream Columbia Programs sponsored by the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District and the City of Columbia. These award programs provide up to $250 in support of environmental efforts at Richland County schools.
