County Councilwoman Chakisse Newton and S.C. House Rep. Jermaine Johnson are again partnering with Prisma Health for a COVID-19 vaccination drive in Lower Richland.

A food giveaway will also be part of the event, set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11 at Lower Richland High School, 2615 Lower Richland Blvd., Hopkins. Attendees should enter off Lower Richland Boulevard and follow the traffic pattern toward the back of the high school.

Prisma Health will administer the Pfizer vaccine to adults and children ages 5 and older who need their first or second dose. Those eligible for a booster shot or third dose can also receive one, per S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control guidelines.

No appointment is needed to receive the vaccine, which is free and does not require insurance.

Local nonprofit Carolina for All will provide grocery bags containing produce, meat, canned goods and other food items to assist families facing food insecurity before the holidays. The food is available first come, first served.
