(Richland PIO) – Cirba Solutions plans to invest over $300 million for the first phase of a lithium-ion battery recycling and reprocessing facility in Richland County’s Pineview Industrial Park.
The U.S.-based company will seek to hire more than 300 full-time employees within five years as it develops what will become its flagship facility on over 200 acres at the industrial park off Shop Road in Lower Richland. County Council held a third reading of the deal during its regular meeting Tuesday night, approving a 40-year fee-in-lieu-of-tax agreement with Cirba Solutions.
“Richland County is proud to welcome yet another successful business to Pineview Industrial Park,” said County Council Chair Overture Walker. “We are grateful that Cirba Solutions, an industry leader that promotes solutions for a sustainable economy, is investing in our community.”
Cirba Solutions’ battery materials manufacturing facility is the latest addition to the industrial park, which is also home to fiberglass manufacturer Jushi USA, Miwon Specialty Chemical USA Inc., and Mark Anthony Brewing, the maker of White Claw hard seltzer.
Cirba Solutions sees the facility in Richland County as a highlight in the battery recycling industry, with a focus on processing hybrid and electric vehicle batteries, gigafactory scrap and end-of-life consumer batteries, and redistributing those materials into the supply chain. According to the company, Cirba Solutions, which operates six facilities in North America, is the only complete service provider in the battery management industry.
The company aims to begin operations at the new facility by the end of 2023 and expand in phases through 2027, for over 400,000 square footage of operational footprint.
