(Richland PIO) – Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center has been working diligently to bolster contraband prevention measures. In recent weeks, these measures have resulted in the arrests of five detention center staff and two contracted employees at the Richland County facility. The enhanced and ongoing contraband mitigation efforts, which are not disclosed for security reasons, have revealed information about the misconduct of staff and the furnishing of illicit items to detainees.
As a result of these interdepartmental efforts between the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, Richland County has been able to proactively address contraband concerns at the jail.
“It’s appalling to see the level of deception that individuals will utilize to compromise the security and safety of the facility and those who work and are cared for there,” said Richland County Administrator Leonardo Brown. “The County’s actions are indicative of the increased contraband reduction measures.”
Richland County does not tolerate misconduct by employees and will continue to hold those who choose to break the law accountable for their actions.
