Richland County is saddened to announce the death of a detainee at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Detention Center staff discovered the detainee unresponsive in his cell at 11:15 a.m. today, Monday, July 22.

The detention center’s on-site medical team immediately responded and began life-saving measures to revive the detainee but were unsuccessful. The detainee did not have a cellmate at the time he was discovered.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office is investigating.
