A national freight brokerage firm is expanding its operations to Richland County and bringing an expected 100 jobs over the next five years.
Total Quality Logistics (TQL) is establishing logistics and sales operations at the Bank of America Financial Center, 1901 Main St. in Columbia. The third-party logistics provider is investing $565,000 in its new office, which is set to open Oct. 26.
With existing operations in Charleston, the Richland County facility will be TQL’s second in South Carolina.

Established in 1997 in Cincinnati, Ohio, TQL has grown into one of the largest freight brokerage firms in North America. With 34 offices nationwide, TQL employs more than 3,500 workers in 19 states. Connecting customers that have freight shipping needs with capable carriers, the firm facilitated the movement of more than one million truck loads last year.
