Richland County Solid Waste & Recycling and the City of Forest Acres are hosting a joint recycling and paper shredding event for residents.
The free recycling and shred event takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 at Crayton Middle School, 5000 Clemson Ave., Columbia. The following materials will be accepted:
•Paper for shredding
•Computers and computer accessories (keyboards, monitors, printers, scanners); TVs and stereos; household electronics, such as VCRs, DVD players, power tools, radios and fax machines; small appliances, such as microwave ovens; any other small household items with power cords, such as telephones, pagers and answering machines
•Scrap metal, stoves, washers, dryers, bicycles, metal door frames, metal chairs and shelves, lawn mowers (must be free of gas and oil), refrigerators and air conditioners
•Tires from cars, light trucks and smaller vehicles, bicycles and wheel barrows.
The event is for residents only. No commercial materials will be accepted.
