A land conservation agreement between Richland County and the developer of the Spring Valley Subdivision, Mr. Edwin Cooper, will be finalized on Tuesday, February 5th at 11:00am. The agreement will ensure that a 24 acre tract of land adjacent to Two Notch Road will remain a valuable part of the County’s ecosystem and undeveloped.
The signing will take place inside the Spring Valley Subdivision entrance, 9300 block of Two Notch Road, just south of Sesquicentennial State Park. This beautiful parcel contains wetlands, sandhills, pine and hardwood forests. The County is protecting the land because it provides green space in the highly developed northeast and will improve and enhance water quality on Little Jackson Creek. By putting the land in a conservation easement, Mr. Cooper has agreed not to develop the property nor cut the timber.
Richland County currently holds conservation easements on nearly 900 acres of property inside the County.
