January 2022 - Staying Safe with S.P.E.E.D.
Description: Richland County Neighborhood Improvement Program invites community leaders to meet with representatives from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department Community Action Team and Serve & Connect to learn how to promote strong community relationships between their neighborhoods and law enforcement. Attendees will be able to meet with Richland County Sheriff’s Department to find out what community-oriented policing methods are being utilized in their neighborhoods. They can also get to know Serve & Connect, an organization that works to build bonds and foster communication between communities and law enforcement. Come learn about resources and strategies available that help keep your neighborhoods safe and prosperous!

February 2022 – Picking up S.P.E.E.D. with Government and Community Resources
Description: Join Richland County Neighborhood Improvement Program (NIP) and our partners at Soda City Market to learn about government resources available to residents and their neighborhoods. Richland County Community Development, City of Columbia Community Development, and the Richland Library will join NIP to speak with market attendees about what their departments can offer to improve neighborhoods throughout the county. Come learn how to get more involved and what resources you can use to improve your neighborhood!

March 2022 – Maintaining SPEED with Alternative Mobility
Description: Richland County Neighborhood Improvement Program (NIP)
invites residents to learn about transportation projects and resources in the
county. Come speak with representatives from the Richland County Transportation
Penny to learn about current and planned transportation projects. While you are
here, take a ride on a Blue Bike from Columbia’s bike share service. Stop by
and see what all the county has to offer! In case of inclement weather, this
event will be postponed to a later date.
