Garbage and Recycle Roll Carts

Roll Carts are provided by Richland County at the start of service. Each cart has a unique number that is assigned to the address of service. Roll carts should NOT be removed from the assigned property for any reason, including the transport of trash or other debris to another location.

NOTE: Roll carts are the property of Richland County. Homeowners are responsible for their care. Carts should last 10 years.

How to Be Cart Smart

Keep the lid on your cart closed to deter flies and animals. DO NOT overload your cart. Periodically wash your cart with soap and water. Try to store your cart in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight and other sources of heat. Keep items that decompose quickly in a cool place until collection day.  All food or liquid waste MUST be placed in a plastic bag and sealed prior to placing in the garbage roll cart.  Do NOT drag, damage, cut, write, mark or paint on the cart.

If your cart is damaged to where it cannot roll, the lid cannot shut, or it cannot safely hold household garbage, contact Richland County for repairs or for a replacement at 803-576-2440. 

If a determination is made that the resident caused the damage to the cart, the citizen will likely be required to pay for repairs or replacement.
