Richland County Chief County Public Defender Named

Fifth Circuit Public Defender Douglas S. Strickler has appointed E. Fielding Pringle as Chief County Public Defender for Richland County pursuant to Section 17-3-530.

Ms. Pringle received her bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston in 1993 and J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1996. She served as a staff attorney with the SC Supreme Court from 1996 to 1998 before beginning her tenure at the Richland County Public Defender’s Office.

Pringle was previously named Fifth Circuit Deputy Public Defender in 2003 and has been representing indigent defendants for nearly fifteen years in all stages from pretrial to clemency proceedings.

Upon receiving the honor, Pringle stated that “It is a privilege to continue serving such an outstanding public defender’s office, one with such a rich history that has produced so many exceptional attorneys. I will continue to work with Doug Strickler to steer the office in the same positive direction.”

Pringle appointed Jennifer Davis of Columbia as Richland County’s Deputy Public Defender. Davis received her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law in 2005, and has been serving indigent defendants in Richland County since 2006. Davis is a marathon runner and member of both the Minnesota and South Carolina Bar.
