On August 10^th, 2013, Matthew (Mack) and Joyce Dickerson celebrated 50 years of marriage with family and friends at the Embassy Suites, Columbia, South Carolina.  They are the parents of Mark Dickerson and MeLicia (MeMe) Spurgeon. They met on a blind date at a July Fourth Celebration with friends.  They were married one year later by the late Rev. L. B. Free, pastor of Garvin Temple Baptist Church in Savannah, Georgia.  They are members of Christian Life Assemblies of God Columbia, SC.  Matthew a native of West Columbia is a graduated of Lakeview High School and Midlands Technical College is retired from the United States Air Force after serving twenty (20) years; in addition to twenty (20) years’ service with the Department of Youth Service.  He also served twelve years (12) as Quarter Master of Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 3695.  Joyce a native of Savannah, Georgia is a graduate of Tompkins High School and Benedict College. She is an affiliate of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated; a retired Compliance Auditor and serves on Richland County Council Richland District two (#2) where she is currently serving a third term.  The couple resides in St. Andrews.  Councilwoman Dickerson also serves on several national committees; including, Chair of the National Foundation for Women Legislators and President of the National Order for women Legislators; Chairs the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Intergovernmental Advisory Committee (IAC).
