A leadership change for the board of the Environmental Education Association of South Carolina (EEASC) also marks a passing of the torch from one Richland County employee to another.

The Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (RSWCD) is spotlighting two local high school students for their dedication to water quality monitoring and awareness.

As a new school year kicks off, the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (RSWCD) is again offering opportunities for conservation engagement by K-12 students, teachers and staff, through Conservation Education Mini-Grants and the Youth Conservation Poster Contest.

Conservation educators from the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District are available to present classroom conservation programs for schools and youth groups on a limited basis in the 2021-2022 school year. 

The 2021 Youth Conservation Poster Contest topic is Healthy Soils: Healthy Life. Richland County students in grades K-12 should submit their posters to the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District for local judging by Friday, April 15, 2022; students in other counties in SC should contact their local conservation district for entry deadlines and details.
