Green purchasing is a way of adding environmental considerations to the price and performance of a product. Richland County teamed up with Office Depot on April 16th to share these ideas with County employees.  Administrative assistants learned about products that can save you money and time, and how to chose the best product to fit your sustainability needs.  Special guest Tyler McCart with Office Depot shared tips to help cut down on waste, contribute to resource conservation, and support responsible suppliers just from your everyday purchasing. 

Richland County receives $5,000 grant from the State Energy Office in a program called Richland Saves.  The funding will jump start a pilot project at Public Works that will replace fluorescent bulbs with LED fixtures.

The Midlands Green Awards presented by Keep the Midlands Beautiful at the 2nd Annual Gala for a Greener Midlands, offered accolades for the Solid Waste Department for a job well done.
