What: Community Cleanup: Springwood Lake/Parklane Road
When: 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 22
Where: Volunteers should meet at 8:30 a.m. at Joseph Keels Elementary School, 7500 Springcrest Drive, Columbia, to pick up supplies.
In response to an increase in litter and illegal dumping in the area during the COVID-19 pandemic, Richland County has launched an anti-litter messaging campaign to encourage residents to engage in efforts to help beautify their communities.
County Councilwoman Gretchen Barron, District 7, is planning a community cleanup in Northeast Richland. Registration is requested, but not required.
Residents are encouraged to take part in or organize cleanup initiatives in their communities and tell others about their efforts by sharing photos on social media using the hashtag #LitterFreeRC or emailing pio@richlandcountysc.gov.
