What: Town hall meeting to discuss rezoning requests in Northeast Richland
When: 6 p.m. Monday, March 6
Where: Richland County Adult Activity Center, 7494 Parklane Road, Columbia
Richland County Councilwoman Gretchen Barron (District 7) will hold a town hall meeting on map amendment requests in Northeast Richland. Barron, along with planning staff and developers, will advise residents on rezoning requests for the following properties:
- 311 Killian Road, Columbia – developers are asking to rezone 1 acre from rural to general commercial
- 2630 Clemson Road, Columbia – developers seek to rezone 4 acres from residential, single-family medium density to an office and industrial district
- Hardscrabble Road – developers want to rezone about 78 acres near the intersection of Hardscrabble and El Hunter roads from light industrial to residential, single-family high density
In order for Richland County Council to enact a rezoning request, an ordinance amending the official zoning map must pass three readings by majority vote.
Proposed changes to Richland County’s zoning map as part of the Land Development Code overwrite will be available at this meeting. County staff will be on hand to answer questions.
