The following are highlights from Richland County Government in December:
· Richland County officials announced the County will begin an independent audit of the Richland County Recreation Commission to aid County Council in evaluating the management of the property-tax funded agency.
· In early December, Richland County Central Court, the Dentsville Magistrate and the Hopkins Magistrate began operating out of the Decker Center, the County’s new state-of-the-art public facility.
· Richland County made history with its second largest economic investment in history when ground was broken for a new China Jushi manufacturing plant in the County’s Pineview Industrial Park. China Jushi’s fiberglass manufacturing plant is expected to bring $300 million and 400 jobs to Richland County.
· Richland County Councilman Jim Manning, District 8, and former Solid Waste & Recycling Coordinator Rudy Curtis received awards for their eco-friendly service at the annual Gala for a Greener Midlands, which is hosted each year by the environmental agency Keep the Midlands Beautiful.
· Richland County announced it will review its approach for distributing hospitality tax proceeds to local organizations to ensure the practice aligns with County policy.
