Nearly 100 residents affected by the historic October 2015 floods met with County staff this week to learn about registering for federal housing assistance.
The first three of six public meetings were held at venues across the County, where officials and flood recovery experts helped explain the process for registering for federal funding to assist with housing rehabilitation and mobile home replacement. The meetings, which will continue next week, are an opportunity to learn more about the registration intake process that will begin May 15.
The final three housing assistance meetings will take place as follows, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.:
· Tuesday, May 9 (two meetings)
St. Andrews Park, 920 Beatty Road, Columbia
North Springs Park Community Center, 1320 Clemson Road, Columbia
· Thursday, May 11
Richland County Decker Center Community Room, 2500 Decker Blvd., Columbia
Last year, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced Richland County will receive $23.5 million for flood recovery efforts through a specific grant program called Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR).
