A resurfacing project to make part of Decker Boulevard an easier drive is nearly complete.
Contractors with Richland County Transportation recently finished repaving four driving lanes and the center lane on a mile-long stretch of Decker, from Brookfield Road to Percival Road.
Crews still have to apply thermoplastic striping over the stripes already in place on the road to make them reflective and more visible at night.
The striping requires dry conditions and a temperature of at least 55 degrees, so contractors will finish work as soon as weather permits. Once begun, the process will take two days to complete.
Motorists can expect brief, temporary lane closures while striping is applied, but lanes on both sides will still be open to traffic.
As Decker Boulevard is not a County road, the S.C. Department of Transportation is paying the estimated $587,366 cost of the project, which began on Oct. 31.
