Informing and connecting businesses in Richland County with procurement opportunities will be the focus of an event Thursday, Jan. 9.
The 2020 OSBO Business Academy: Procurement Resource Summit will be 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. at Richland Library Main, 1431 Assembly St., Columbia.
Procurement is the process through which public organizations solicit and negotiate for goods and services that County residents need.
A panel discussion will explore potential contracting opportunities and feature representatives from the following public entities:
- Richland County Government
- City of Columbia
- Richland School Districts 1 and 2
- Columbia Metropolitan Airport
- University of South Carolina
Panel members will explain the procurement process, including how attendees can become vendors, while also identifying goods and services their organizations are looking to purchase or procure. Afterward, the panel members will answer questions.
“Business owners networking with each other, and with some potential clients and customers, is a great first step toward business growth in the new year,” said Christine Keefer, director of Government and Community Services for the County.
Hosted by the Richland County Office of Small Business Opportunity (OSBO) and Richland Library, the summit is part of a series of Engage Richland events encouraging residents to learn more about local government.
