Richland County employees continue to work hard for residents, despite County offices being closed to the public and nonessential staff during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Staff in a variety of departments are working throughout the community to ensure that essential functions continue, from emergency services to road projects and utilities.
- Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel are taking proper precautions related to COVID-19 and wearing protective uniforms as they answer calls in the community.
- Progress on road and sidewalk projects continues throughout the County. Crews with Richland County Transportation are working to widen Clemson Road, a project that will extend a portion of the road from two to five lanes by early 2021. More widespread efforts include repaving a combined 16.74 miles on 52 roads around the County.
- The Richland County Conservation Division continues to monitor and maintain conservation properties while following social distancing and safe practices.
- Departments with crews working in the field are practicing social distancing.
- Richland County Council is holding virtual public meetings to limit in-person interaction and help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The next County Council meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 21. Details on virtual access will be released closer to the meeting.
