Small business owners will get an in-depth look at working with federal agencies at a forum in October sponsored in part by Richland County.
The “Getting Back to Business” forum is a free event held by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), in conjunction with the county and other agencies. The forum will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Richland County Adult Activity Center, 7494 Parkland Road in Columbia. The event is open to the first 240 small businesses that register – in advance or onsite, if seats are still available.
“Small businesses are the backbone of the economy,” said Richland County Councilwoman Julie-Ann Dixon, who will deliver the keynote address at the forum. “This event is an opportunity for these businesses to expand their customer base by possibly becoming a partner with the federal government. The hope is that this will help them create even more jobs in our community.”
Attendees will learn how to develop the federal marketplace as a buyer of the goods and services their businesses offer. Highlights of the event include “Meet the Buyers Forum” and “Open Networking and Business Card Exchange.” Breakfast will be provided. To register and for more information, visit www.rcgov.us and click the Events tab.
As the acquisition arm of the federal government, GSA plays a vital role in connecting the private sector with federal agencies fulfilling their business needs. The federal government is mandated to provide an array of programs and services especially for small businesses. In GSA, these are coordinated and overseen by the Office of Small Business Utilization (OSBU). For more information on how GSA can help your small business, visit www.gsa.gov.
