(Richland PIO) – Voting will soon be underway in South Carolina to nominate presidential candidates for the 2024 general election.
Democratic PPP
Early voting for the Democratic Presidential Preference Primary begins Monday, Jan. 22 and runs through Friday, Feb. 2. The primary will be held Saturday, Feb. 3. In Richland County, registered voters may vote early or on Feb. 3. Early voting will be closed Sunday, Jan. 28.
Republican PPP
Early voting for the Republican Presidential Preference Primary runs from Feb. 12 to Feb. 22. The Republican primary will be held Feb. 24. In Richland County, registered voters may vote early or on Feb. 24. Early voting will be closed Feb 18-19.
Where to Vote Early
Early voting centers will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at these locations:
- Voter Registration and Elections Office
2020 Hampton St., Columbia
- Richland County Early Voting Center
2011 Hampton St., Columbia
Voters will be asked to provide one of the following photo IDs when voting in person:
- S.C. driver’s license (standard License or REAL ID)
- S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles ID Card (standard ID card, REAL ID or S.C. Concealed Weapons Permit)
- S.C. Voter Registration Card with photo
- Federal military ID (Department of Defense photo ID or Veterans Affairs benefits card)
- U.S. passport
Absentee Voting
Registered voters who cannot vote in person on the day of the election and who will be out of the County for the duration of early voting may be eligible to vote by absentee ballot.
To request an absentee ballot, contact the Richland County Voter Registration Office at 803-576-2240 or visit the office: 2020 Hampton St., Columbia, SC 29204. Completed applications must be returned no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23 for the Democratic PPP or Feb. 13 for the Republican PPP.
