The Richland County Planning Department, in accordance with National Flood Insurance Program rules, announces the County’s intent to revise flood hazard information for the general location of Planters and Knollwood drives in the Knollwood subdivision of Southeast Richland.
Specifically, the County is revising flood hazard information along Tributary No. 1 to Reeder Point Branch, about 920 feet downstream from U.S. 378 to about 640 feet upstream from Pineview Road. This revision has lowered projected elevations for a 100-year flood.
The 100-year floodplain is also expected to shrink in the revised area. When a floodplain decreases in size, the area prone to flooding during significant rain events is reduced. This helps minimize potential damage to people and property.
Please note: The stream’s location was inaccurate in earlier maps. This notice corrects those errors.
