(Richland PIO) – Richland County Council Chairwoman Jesica Mackey has been appointed to serve on the board of directors for the South Carolina Association of Counties (SCAC).
The SCAC, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, provides resources, training, education and guidance for administrators, staff and elected officials in all of South Carolina's 46 counties. The board of directors represents the state’s urban and rural counties and helps lead the association to ensure programs and services meet the diverse needs of all counties.
"This appointment is a tremendous honor,” Mackey said. “As a representative of Richland County, I am excited about the opportunity to expand advocacy through networking with my colleagues around the state, while continuing to address issues that are important to the residents of Richland County."
“Chairwoman Mackey has served on our Revenue, Finance and Economic Development Steering Committee and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that SCAC can benefit from as we share ideas and collaborate to solve common challenges facing all 46 counties,” SCAC President William Robinson said. “I look forward to working with Chairwoman Mackey on the board and am thankful for her willingness to serve not only her own community, but also give back to the state by lending her expertise to our association.”
Chairwoman Mackey has also served on the SCAC’s Legislative Committee and is a graduate of the South Carolina Association of Counties Institute of Government, Levels I and II. She has represented District 9 on Richland County Council since 2021.
