Richland County Offices To Close Thursday; Schedule Pending for Friday
Richland County, under a State of Emergency due to the winter storm, will suspend on Thursday all County operations except for essential functions.
Council Chair Norman Jackson signed the emergency declaration Wednesday after discussions with the County administrator and emergency management staff. Officials will monitor weather conditions Thursday to make a determination about whether to close or open on a delayed schedule Friday.
Thursday's closing also will suspend curbside garbage collections.
Residents are urged to remain indoors, tune in to local media, prepare for possible power outages and stay off the roads. The public is asked to refrain from calling 911 for non-emergencies. Instead, residents may report storm-related damage to the County's emergency division:
Call: (803) 576-2682
Email: esd@rcgov.us
Social media: Facebook and Twitter
Residents should report any power outages to their local utility provider.
County crews are working during the storm to help residents stay safe and are prepared to initiate plans to help the area recover from the storm as quickly as possible.
