Men and women interested in a career as a detention officer are encouraged to attend a career fair at Richland County’s Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
The career fair takes place 10 a.m.-2p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17 at the detention center, 201 John Mark Dial Drive, Columbia. Job seekers will have the opportunity to meet with staff, tour the state-of-the-art facility and learn details about the responsibilities of a detention officer in today’s criminal justice system. All interested applicants must bring a valid driver’s license.
The Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center seeks individuals with a strong sense of commitment and dedication to support its mission to protect public safety while providing a constitutional level of services to those incarcerated.
The detention center serves as the intake center for un-sentenced misdemeanor and felony detainees and as an incarceration facility for sentenced offenders. It is ranked in the top 1 to 2.5 percent of the larger local jails in the country. The daily population is approximately 750-1,100 inmates.
