Residents can now review and offer comments about the action plan that details how $23.5 million in federal funding will help Richland County continue with flood recovery efforts.

The document includes the proposed projects and programs to be funded through the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) that was allocated to Richland County through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) earlier this year.

County officials held 14 meetings throughout the summer that were specifically geared toward soliciting residents’ and business owners’ input about how to best spend the $23.5 million grant on unmet flood recovery needs. That community input helped craft the CDBG-DR Action Plan that is available online at www.rcgov.us/floodrecovery. Residents are urged to review the plan during the 14-day public comment period and provide feedback by emailing recovery@rcgov.us or calling Recovery Chief Mike King at 803-731-8362.

The action plan is available online in English, Spanish and Korean, and a hard copy of the document is available at the Community Development Office located on the third floor of the Richland County Administration Building at 2020 Hampton St., Columbia.

After the public comment period concludes Sept. 9, County officials will submit the action plan to HUD by Sept. 19.
