June's plant of the month is lemon bee balm, Monarda citriodora.
Seventeen students will receive awards in this year’s Youth Conservation Poster Contest sponsored by the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD). Posters addressed the topic “Where Would We BEE without Pollinators,” which challenged students to imagine a world without pollinators and to raise awareness about ways we can help conserve and protect these essential creatures.
Three Richland County students received statewide recognitions from the South Carolina Association of Conservation Districts in the 2019 Conservation Poster Contest.
May's plant of the month is scarlet sage, Salvia coccinea.
While public access to the Richland County Administration Building is restricted, the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is making a selection of spring vegetable, herb and wildflower seeds available to the public via US Mail at no cost.
