Nominations for Richland County Conservation Teacher and Principal of the Year will be accepted until April 10, 2017. Winners will receive $100 cash prizes and will be recognized at the District's Annual Banquet.
A High Tunnel Production Workshop will be held on Wednesday, March 15, from 9am-2:30pm. The 2017 Youth Conservation Poster Contest theme is "Healthy Soils are Full of Life." Richland County students in grades K-12 may submit entries until April 10, 2017. Cash prizes will be awarded to winning entries in each of five grade level categories.
For the past three years, the Richland, Dillon, and Marlboro SWCDs have been engaged in a soil health research and demonstration project investigating the effects of cover crops and reduced tillage. Results, successes, challenges, and lessons learned from this project will be presented during a grand finale event in Dillon, SC on February 3.
Two Richland County students have been named state winners in the 2016 Conservation Poster Contest sponsored by the SC Association of Conservation Districts.
