Kristin Ziegler, Lead Teacher of the School of Zoological and Botanical Studies at Longleaf Middle School, has been named Richland County Conservation Teacher of the Year by the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD).

The Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) has named Principal Denise Barth of Catawba Trail Elementary School Richland County’s Conservation Principal of the Year for the 2015-2016 school year.

South Carolina farmers Jason Carter (Richland County) and Carl Coleman (Dillon County) have been named National Soil Health Champions by the National Association of Conservation Districts.

Six youth environmental projects will receive funding through the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District’s Conservation Education Mini-Grant Program and the City of Columbia’s Clean Stream Columbia Program, which provide grants of up to $250 to support classroom conservation initiatives.

The Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) was named the 2015 Outstanding Conservation District of the Year by the SC Association of Conservation Districts (SCACD).
