Several people milled about in a bit of a rehearsal, getting a feel for the height and width of unfinished plywood benches, tables and podiums put in place to accommodate all the roles in court, from judge to jury. Although the furnishings were simulations, they laid the foundation for the making of a real courtroom – and Richland County’s efforts to revitalize the old shopping center at Decker Boulevard and O’Neil Court into a new Decker Center.

Rhythmlink International, LLC, a medical device manufacturing company, is expanding its Richland County facility at 1140 First Street South in the Columbia Industrial Park. The expansion includes a $1.4 million investment expected to create 50 new jobs and a world-class automated packaging line in a new 1,500-square-foot ISO 8 Certified, Class 100,000 cleanroom.

Richland County is taking part in a local coalition, including Columbia and Lexington County, seeking state aid for a bundle of transportation projects that are collectively designed to stimulate economic development and improve traffic flow in the region.
