Following is a statement from Richland County Councilman Joe Walker, District 6, in reference to a proposed ordinance by the City of Columbia that would require citizens to wear masks in City limits.

Richland County Council issued a proclamation Tuesday designating June as Richland Counts Month, in an effort to encourage residents to respond to the 2020 Census.

Richland County Council will hold a virtual public hearing on proposed zoning changes Tuesday, June 23.

As part of efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Richland County’s Economic Development Office is distributing medical devices to businesses for screening employees.

Richland County’s Register of Deeds Office will reopen by appointment only beginning Monday, June 15.
