Chanda Cooper, the education program coordinator for the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District and the County’s Conservation Department, was named the 2013 Outstanding Conservation District Employee by the SC Association of Conservation Districts.
Richland County nominee Melinda Beach has been named South Carolina’s 2013 Primary (K-6th Grade) Teacher of the Year by the South Carolina Association of Conservation Districts (SCACD). She will be recognized at the Association's Awards Luncheon later this month.
Sarah Bobertz and Fiona Aldighieri have been named state winners in the "Where Does Your Water Shed?" conservation poster contest. Their posters will progress to the national competition.
Students in grades K-12 are invited to participate in the National Conservation Poster Contest. This year's stewardship theme is "Dig Deeper: Mysteries in the Soil." Entries are due by May 15, 2014.
