A Project Learning Tree PreK-8 Curriculum Training will be held at Benedict College on Saturday, February 8, 2014. The workshop will be free to college students with a student ID; $20 for all others. Lunch will be provided. Project Learning Tree is a nationally-acclaimed environmental education curriculum.
Twenty student entries have earned recognition and cash prizes in the Richland County Arbor Day Youth Contests.
Catawba Trail Elementary School and St. John Neumann Catholic School are the Fall 2013 recipients of $250.00 Conservation Education Mini-Grants from the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District. Both schools plan to use the mini-grants to support school gardening initiatives.
A Conservation Innovation Grant from the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service will allow the Richland SWCD to conduct agricultural field trials on cover-cropping and no-till management.
