Richland County is holding a free community drop-in for residents to cap off a year of looking back and looking ahead.

Richland County Government offices will close Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28 in observance of Thanksgiving.

Volunteers with gloves and a strong resolve dug into several large trash bags pulled from a dumpster at the Richland County Administration Building on Thursday morning in an effort to demonstrate how much waste tossed at the facility is actually recyclable.

Judge Michael Davis, who has served for 45 years, is honored with a special County Council resolution.

Cat owners in Richland and Lexington counties can get their pets spayed or neutered free during a special event in December.
