The progress and ingenuity of Richland County’s Information Technology Department was recently recognized with two top awards – one for an innovative new tax-paying system, the other for a highly-valued member of its team.

Richland County is making it easy for residents to safely recycle items that are not collected curbside by holding a special Electronic Recycling Event.

In celebration of general aviation and “first flight” pioneers Orville and Wilbur Wright’s connection to the Jim Hamilton – L.B. Owens Airport, Richland County is celebrating National Aviation Week, Aug. 17-23.

Runners and walkers from all corners of Richland County are encouraged to lace up their running and walking shoes to represent their local communities by joining in Richland R.U.N.S., a charity road race that celebrates all of Richland County — Rural, Urban, Neighborhoods and Suburbs.

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, Richland County Court Appointed Special Advocates (RC CASA) will lead a march down Main Street in Columbia on Aug. 28 – 51 years after the words were originally spoken.
