In appreciation and support of veterans, Richland County Government will join Operation Green Light, an initiative of the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO), by illuminating County buildings with green light during the week of Veterans Day, Nov. 6-12.

Richland County is saddened by the death of a detainee at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Detention center staff discovered the detainee non-responsive in his cell at about 7:15 a.m. today during morning meal pass.

Richland County Council voted to approve a $181 million downtown development plan nicknamed Project Vista Depot District during its regular scheduled meeting Tuesday night.

Richland County will bring together the County’s Transportation Penny Advisory Committee (TPAC), the S.C. Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and The Comet for a joint 2023 State of the Penny Address.

Richland County will announce plans to begin an extensive $4.3 million Transportation Penny project to build a sidewalk along Alpine Road that will connect S.C. Highway 12 (Percival Road) with U.S. Highway 1 (Two Notch Road).
